[The Marriage Contract under Sharia
[Darwish dubs this contract as "The Lock on the Gender Cage" as subtitle to Chapter Two of her book. She writes that in Muslim Sharia-ruled society, a girl is picked as a mate,can say either yes or no, but can never marry a man of her choosing. She cannot even date, must always be concerned with her reputation and honor, and above all her virginity which is the very focus of the Muslim societal institution of "honor." It is the one thing that Muslim men must protect in their female relatives in order to preserve the family's honor. (ibid., p.25)
[Islamic law prevents Muslim girls from marrying anyone but Muslim men. However, that rule does not apply to men. Sharia law gives men the freedom to marry non-Muslim women. Darwish was told, this is Allah's law and Muslim women must obey it. Those who don't obey are considered apostates who should be killed. (see ibid., pp.28f) ]
Editor's comment: As we stated our opinion before in commentary in Koranlore, Allah's law appears to have been whatever Muhammad decided it to be, with his familiar phrase, Allah's will was "sent down" via Gabriel, when it is obvious that Allah's law was really Muhammad's arbitrary decision.
Darwish says the Muslim marriage contract is traditionally called Akd Nikkah, and the literal meaning of the word nikkah in Arabic is"sexual intercourse.' In Egypt the contract has now changed to Akd Zawag (marriage contract). In Pakistan the name is still Nikkah, probably because Pakistanis do not speak Arabic and the word is not as offensive. The Sharia marriage contract is essentially a document
granting sexual intercourse rights to the male and giving him total control over his wife or wives. (ibid., p.34)The Qur'an (66:5) itself tells the wife that she can be replaced:
"Maybe, his Lord, if he divorce you, will give him in your place wives better than you, submissive, faithful,obedient, penitent, adorers, fasters, widows, and virgins."
(ibid., p.35)The ramifications of Sharia marriage are many, as revealed by Darwish, and are more than can be covered in a few words . Topics discussed under a section on "Gender Rights under Sharia" are: Divorce, Custody of children, Wife support, A husband may beat and sexually abandon his wife,Unlimited rights (of the husband) to a woman's body, Polygamy -- A man's right to multiple wives.
Under polygamy, Darwish says that sex for the male in Islam is a "huge buffet" of alternatives from which he can freely choose.
But the most shocking sexual privilege Sharia grants to men is that they are allowed to seek sexual gratification with children!A marriage may be lawfully consummated with a girl
as young as nine! *[* Editor's Note: In April 2009 a Saudi judge ruled that the marriage of an 8-year old girl to a 47-yearold man is legal (that's sharia law for you).
Public clamor later caused the judge to renege on this ruling.]The revered Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, the supreme Leader of Iran, the Shia Grand Ayatollah between 1979 and 1989, said in an official statement:
"A man can quench his sexual lusts with a child as young as a baby. However, he should not penetrate.**(**Note: i.e. the vagina;
but sodomizing (i.e. the rectum) is halal, allowed by Sharia. Charming, isn't it? )Sodomizing the baby is halal (allowed by Sharia)..."

Khomeini said more specifically about allowed sex with infants that it is not illegal for an adult male to 'thigh' or enjoy a young girl who is still in the age of weaning, i.e. placing his virile member between her thighs, and to kiss her.
(ibid., p.57) Darwish writes that Khomeini didn't just make this stuff up -- Mohammed was practicing thighing with (his child bride) Aisha at six and consummated the marriage at age nine (Sahih Bukari 3:48:805), and whatever he did was a model for all time. (ibid., p.57)[Editor's note: Whatever the Prophet Muhammad did "was a model for all time," says Darwish. Doesn't that tell you something about the revered founder of Islam, and just how ludicrous are some of the practices that are now justified under Sharia? And can you envision what bringing Sharia to America would do to American jurisprudence, the overturning of convictions for child molestation and returning the prisoners convicted for sex crimes to the freedom of the streets across America?
[What American in his right mind would replace American jurisprudence with the monstrous legal system of Sharia which is obviously based on the maniacal sexual whims found in the hadiths of the Prophet Muhammad?]
