Part 7 Muslim Demands for Accommodation
Now that you have read "A World Dominated by Islam" (Part 3) and seen what could happen in your relatively comfortable life, read what is currently happening in these United States, as has happened already in Britain where the Muslim population is ever-increasing.
Three timely books highly recommended for Americans speak to the current impact of Islam on our Western Judeo-Christian society: America Alone by Mark Steyn, Stealth Jihad by Robert Spencer, and Cruel and Usual Punishment by Nonie Darwish.
The first two books provide much information on the pressures being placed on non-Muslims for accommodation to demands of Muslim culture. The third book tells about women's plight in Muslim society.
Some of the demands related by Steyn and Spencer lend themselves to criticism and humor, the kind that motivated the foregoing e-books Biblelore, Biblelore Lite, Koranlore and Koranlore Lite. The Muslim demands presented by the two authors are so many and diverse, we can only summarize them here without retelling their full content, and so choose some for light-hearted mocking humor which are the halllmark and mainstay of this website biblelore. com.
So let's begin. Mark Steyn paints the dire and very possible Islamization of America as well as every Western free nation by the acceptance of multiculturalism, the progression of Islam under the multicultural umbrella, and the accommodation of demands by Muslim immigrants to their traditional cultural custom and ways.
Toilet Facilities
In America Alone: The End of the World As We Know It Steyn reports that in Britain they're rebuilding half the bathrooms in Her Majesty's prisons, because Muslim inmates have complained that the toilets face Mecca, so they're obliged to ride sidesaddle, which can be very uncomfortable!!! (pp. 82-83, America Alone, The End of the World As We Know It, Mark Steyn, Regnery Publishing, Inc., 2006, Washington, D.C.) Picture that!

In addition to re-orientation of toilets in English prisons, display of the English national flag has been banned in two instances in deference to Muslims; one in 2005, by which Her Majesty's chief inspector of prisons, banned the flying of the flag in English prisons because it shows the cross of St. George used by Crusaders which is offensive to Muslims; the other in the Drivers and Vehicles Licensing Agency's offices. Heathrow Airport has followed suit. (op.cit.,p.197).
Closer to home, here are some of what's happening currently in the United States: Spencer cites the same phenomenon of Islamization and the tacit meeting of Muslim demands for accommodation in the United States and Auttralia in Stealth Jihad, How Radical Islam Is Subverting America without Guns or Bombs (Regnery Publishing, Inc., 2008, Washington, D.C ). He tells how after September 11 the FBI hired Muslims as Arabic translators, and as reported by journalist Paul Sperry in his book Infiltration, some devout Muslims in the unit became so brazen as to demand separate toilets from the "infidel" agents so they "wouldn't get dirty sitting on the same toilets." (op.cit., pp.257f)

Muslim Call to Prayer
The traditional call to prayer heard every day in Muslim countries has made an intrusion in the heartland of America. Spencer tells how in July 2004 residents of Hamtramck, MI voted to approve an amendment to the city's noise ordinance that allows the Islamic call to prayer to be broadcast over loudspeakers. (ibid., p.140)
(Editor's Comment: There goes the neighborhood! Which comes first in Hamtramck, the broadcast call to prayer or the cock-a-doodle-do of the neighbor's rooster, and which is the more annoying to non-Muslim residents?)
Hold the Bacon!
The Muslim cultural ban on pork products has raised its ugly head on American shores. Spencer tells of four incidents with various resolutions:
A Muslim CEO of a telecom company in Florida fired an employee in 2004 for eating BLT sandwich which contained (of course) bacon, a pork product, a violation of his company rule against eating a pork product on the company's premises. (ibid., pp.139f)
A Muslim Dunkin' Donuts franchise owner sued the company for discrimination when the corporation would not renew his contract because he refused to sell the company's ham, bacon, and sausage breakfast sandwiches in his store, and was not allowed a franchise that didn't sell all the Dunkin' Donuts products. (ibid., p.141)
Muslim cashiers at some Target store outlets in Minneapolis in March 2007 began refusing to ring up pork products. Target Corporation finally caved in and chose the path of least resistance, offering to allow Muslim cashiers to wear gloves while operating the cash register, or assign stubborn Muslim cashiers other jobs within the store. (ibid., pp. 143f)
A Muslim cashier at Sam's Club in Bloomington, MN, quit his job rather than ring up pork products. He quit when told it was not a negotiable part of his job. (ibid., p.144)
(Editor's comment: At last a company that stood up for its own principles!)
Tee-totalers
The Muslim dislike of alcohol has had an impact in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area of Minnesota: Muslim taxi drivers in late 2006 at the International Airport were refusing passengers who carried alcohol or were even suspected of carrying alcohol. Many other drivers sided with him. Refusals averaged 67 times a month and by January 2007 5,400 passengers had been denied service because of alcohol. This became an issue because of a June 6, 2006 religious ruling, or fatwah, from the Minnesota chapter of the the Muslim American Society (MAS), front group of the Muslim Brotherhood in the U.S. The Metropolitan Airports Commission held a hearing in February 2007. Muslim Ablution before Prayer
The Muslim custom of the ablution or washing of feet before prayer has been brought to our shores with the arrogant demand by Muslim immigrants that their custom be accommodated by non-Muslims wherever Muslims put down their roots. Spencer relates four capitulations to Muslims on footbaths:
The Muslim Students Association (MSA) in August 2007 prevailed upon the University of Michigan at Dearborn to spend $25,000 to install two footbaths on campus for Muslim students. (ibid., p.147)
In September 2007, the Indianapolis Airport announced that footbaths would be installed, as part of a terminal renovation scheduled to be completed by November 2008, in a restroom used by (mostly Muslim) cab drivers, so they could perform ablution rituals required before Islamic prayers. The floor- level sinks (costing $400-600 each) would be financed through airport revenue. (ibid., p.144)
In October 2007, New York University followed suit as many other colleges and universities. 17 universities have now announced plans to install footbaths, including Boston University College, George Washington University, and Temple University (all at the instigation of the MSA-- a Muslim Brotherhood organization. (ibid.,p.149)
Earlier, as far back as 2004, Phoenix's Sky Harbor International airport installed two footbaths for Muslim cab drivers, funded with airport user fees rather than taxpayer money, which still is not the equivalent of using private funding. (ibid., p.145)

Universities
Spencer writes in Stealth Jihad that universities are a softer target than airports in meeting demands for Islamic accommodation; "since so many administrators are enthralled by an extreme form of multiculturalist dogma that champions 'sensitivity' to foreign cultures above all else." (ibid.,p.144)
For example, Spencer relates a March 2007 report from the Canadian Federation of Students called upon Canadian colleges and universities to eliminate interest-accumulating student loans, since Islam "opposes usury and involvement with interest-bearing loans." (ibid., p.146)

In 2007, the Minneapolis Community and Technical College, announced plans to construct preparation facilities for Islamic prayer--despite having prohibited a coffee cart from playing Christmas carols on campus the previous year. (ibid., p. 149)

Recreation and Separate Facilities
Muslims have imposed their demands in facilities devoted to recreational swimming as well. In 2006 a London public "leisure centre" established a Sunday-afternoon session for Muslim swimmers. The men-only swim time lasted two hours, and non-Muslims were banned from the pool during that time unless they complied with Islamic sharia rules dictating that bathing suits cover their navels and knees. A mosque official rejected protests saying that Muslims are not allowed to show intimate parts of their body, that this is non-negotiable, that Muslims have as much right to go swimming as anyone (meaning according to their rules, not the rules of the society to which they have immigrated). (ibid.,pp.171f)
[Editor's comment: So the navel and knees are as intimate as the genitals? Fancy that! I can just see the cartoons on this one! Don't men's basketball uniforms already extend below the knees? Why not let Muslim mens wear current fashion basketball pants for swimming, maybe with an added cummerbund?
This is just the sort of subject that we in Western society should hold up for criticism of Islam and sharia, and should engage, to reveal to the non-Muslim public how ridiculous are the encroaching Muslim demands for accommodation to them. No other group of immigrants in American history have failed to assimilate to the American melting pot as do Muslims. This simply confirms that Muslims are not interested in adjusting to American culture: they are bent on changing American culture by Islamization! It gives this editor a whole new area for critical editorial cartoons. Stay tuned!]

Not only Muslim men, but Muslim women have gotten "pushy" in seeking accommodation to their culture by their Western hosts. Harvard University also accommodated Muslim women in February 2008 when university administrators instituted six women-only hours at the university gym, so as to make Muslim women feel more comfortable while working out. An under-graduate who is an officer of the Harvard Islamic Society's Islamic Knowledge Committee explained that there is a segment of the Harvard female population that feel working out in a co-ed gym is uncomfortable, awkward or problematic in some way. (ibid., p.173)
In February 2008 Muslim students at Australian universities demanded that class schedules be changed to work around their prayer times, and that male and female students be provided separate cafeterias and recreational areas. (ibid., p. 174)
And so the Muslim demands for accommodation continue!
