Religion is the bane of mankind
A World Dominated by Islam(
according to documents of Muhammad, Omar I and Hamas)Where would you and I fit in, in a world dominated by Islam, and a Muslim caliphate?
Muhammad sought to bring all people in his purview to accept his new religion of Islam, to pay allegiance to him as Allah's prophet to the Arab people and to be subject to him as the apostle of Allah.
Muhammad expected to convert everyone to Islam except for Jews and Christians, whom he referred to as the People of the Book (Bible); they were given the word of God in the Bible, yet had not heeded God's word.
Jews and Christians would be granted minority religious liberty as "dhimmis" (translated = "protected" or "guilty").
They would be "protected" by Muhammad but be "guilty" for not heeding God's word in the Bible. That liberty and protection had a price.Muhammad wrote a document he identified as a document between the believers and Muslims of Quraysh and Yathrib (towns near Medina) and anyone who followed, joined and labored with them. Muhammad viewed them as one community (umma) to the exclusion of all men.(pp. 231ff, The Life of Muhammad, A.Guillaume, translation of Ibn Ishaq's Sirat Rasul Allah(Oxford U. Press, Pakistan, 1967).
What would be the obligations of believers among themselves, and their behavior toward Jews, unbelievers (read infidels) and "outsiders"?
The advantage was clearly in favor of Muslims over non-Muslims:
1) Among fellow Muslims, conditions must be fair and equal.
2) But a believer shall not kill a believer for the sake of an unbeliever (infidel).
3)
Jews who follow Muslims deserve help and equality. Believers must avenge the blood of one another in the way of God.4)
No non-believer shall take the property or person of Quraysh under his protection, nor intervene against a believer.5)
Anyone convicted of killing a believer without good reason is subject to retaliation unless he pays bloodwit or blood-money to next of kin.
6) A believer may not lawfully help or shelter an evil-doer. (He is faced with the curse and anger of God on the day of resurrection with no repentance or ransom to be received from him.)
Among other sundries:
7) Jews must contribute to the cost of war if fighting alongside believers.
8) Anyone under protection (strangers, Jews, Christians) shall do no harm, commit no crime.
9) Quraysh and helpers who opposed Muhammad's new religion shall be given no protection.
10) Muhammad intended to have a tight community of believers, with some tolerance for groups who
(1) accepted and paid for his protection;
(2) met the conditions of submission set out by Muhammad which ensured Muslim control and domination of everyone in Medina
.After Muhammad's death in 632, Abu Bakr assumed leadership. Next came Umar, who reigned for ten years as Omar I (634-644).
He amplified the rules of subjugation of Jews and Christians in a document referred to as The Covenant of Omar (q.v. , Koranlore Chapter 6 at www.biblelore.com)Following are some of those restrictions imposed on non-believers
throughout the centuries where Islam ruled. Non-believers (called dhimmis)paid for protection by Muslims (shades of the Mafia!). They had to meet conditions of submission to Muslims.Under Omar I Jews and others were subjugated to a collection of restrictions (cf. Abba Eban, Heritage, Civilization and the Jews) requiring that they:
-show respect for the supremacy of Muslims
-refrain from imitating Muslims
-submit to Muslims by standing in their presence and giving up their seats when Muslims wished to sit down
-show other forms of self-abasement toward Muslims
-wear clothing of visible identification, notably: for Jews, yellow badges; for Christians, blue badges-non-Muslim women were further humiliated by having to wear shoes that did not match.
Other restrictions under the "Pact of Umar" (cf. Albert Hourani, A History of the Arab Peoples) included:
-they were to pay a special tax (poll tax called jizya)
-they were forbidden to wear certain colors, required to wear other colors (except green, the favorite color of Muhammad)
-they could not marry Muslim women
-in law courts their testimony was not accepted against that of Muslims.
Under Dhimmah (promise of protection)
Christians pledged not to erect a monastery, nor restore a church, nor ring church bells loudly, nor erect crosses outside churches, nor read holy books in the presence of Muslims. All this (and more) is still part of the Sharia law today. Non-Muslims who violate the terms of Sharia can be killed or sold into slavery at the discretion of the Muslim leader (cf. Robert Spencer, The Politically Incorrect Guide to Islam [and the Crusades], Regnery Publishing Co., 2005.)What would this mean for you and me in the 21st century? Terrorist groups like Hamas and al Qaeda would enforce the subjugation of non-Muslims and domination by Muslims in a new world. On the matter of tolerance by Islam for non-Muslims, Robert Spencer
* cites the Charter of Allah: The Platform of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas). Yes, that Hamas, the terrorist organization dominating Gaza today! The charter states it is possible for the members of the three religions: Islam, Christianity and Judaism to co-exist in safety and security, under the shadow of Islam! That from Hamas of Lebanon, and now Gaza! (*Spencer, op.cit., pp. 51f.)It is clear that terrorist Islamist groups like Hamas and al Qaeda are bent on perpetuating the original document of Muhammad and the Covenant of Omar and on gaining Muslim supremacy and domination over non-Muslims of all religious denominations worldwide! The line is drawn in the sand by radical Islamists -- it is back to Muhammad's original three options for all religious groups and individuals who would reject his religion of Islam:
submission to Islam, subjugation with humiliation (including the poll tax, jizya), or -- execution, death! Shades of life under the Mafia!Peace under Islam would come at the Prophet Muhammad's price. This would be your world dominated by Islam.
